Traditions Engaged is festival of Indian dance that will be hosted by the Chitresh Das Dance Company (CDDC) & the Chhandam School of Kathak (U.S.). CDDC and Chhandam will partner with their sister organization, Chhandam Nritya Bharati (India), to present the festival in celebration of CDDC/Chhandam’s 30th anniversary and expansion to India.
The festival will run on October 1-3 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and again on October 8-10 at the REDCAT Theater in Los Angeles. The program will feature performances, lecture demonstrations, and discussions from some of the world’s foremost Indian classical dancers and musicians. Check out this site for more information on how to register for the festival: Registration.
The complete schedule is yet to be set, but here is a taste of some of the artists you can expect to see!
Look out for more updates as we get closer to the festival! It will certainly be a historic event, “bringing together master and emerging artists, scholars, leaders, critics, presenters and funders to explore the role and relevance of India’s traditional classical dance and music forms in a global world.”
