Seeking a Renaissance in San Francisco
The Gray Area Foundation for the Arts (GAFFTA) is a nonprofit in SF that works to bring about social consciousness through digital culture, by utilizing art, design, sound, and technology.
GAFFTA has started the expansion of Taylor St. in the Tenderloin and is opening Archetype Boutique as a part of the initative. The project, headed by GAFFTA Fashion Initiatives Lead, Melissa Marie and Creative Director for Archetype Boutique, Jarred Garza, hopes to build “consciousness through digital culture onto the runway and into the marketplace.” Archetype will showcase technologically inspired and sustainability-minded fashion, with themed fashion and product installations every 2 months
As I’ve mentioned before, Jarred Garza is also a co-founder/designer at Ric Rac Clothing Company and one of my former sewing instructors! Come out this weekend for the grand opening to support Jarred and GAFFTA! Archetype Boutique is located on 984 Market St between Turk St. and Golden Gate Ave. Here’s the schedule for the opening weekend:
