Mythili Prakash: World Festival of Sacred Music

Mythili Prakash

The World Festival of Sacred Music in Los Angeles, is held every three years.  It brings together sacred music and movement traditions of the world in a two week festival, with performances held at arenas ranging from theaters to temples.  The 5th annual festival will be held during September/October of 2011.  The 4th annual festival in 2008, featured a performance by Bharatanatyam (South Indian Classical) dancer, Mythili Prakash.  She performed a duet with Dr. A. J. Racy and the Mystical Legacies Ensemble of music.  The Ensemble’s works, derived from the Ottoman Sufi tradition, blended Islamic tradition with Bharatanatyam’s Hindu roots – invoking a direct experience with the divine.  Look out for updates on the Fall 2011 festival in the next several months!
